India is a country where sexual violence against women is extremely common but still not reported. Olympic boxer Mary Kom is attempting to make these women feel a sense of safety but giving them tips on how to fight their attackers.
Kom has launched an app on the smartphone as well as a self-defense camp, which she hopes that all Indian women will eventually have access to. She mentioned that most females are excited to learn.
The state-owned gun maker in India has also found a solution for women's protection by designing a lightweight revolver especially for them. "It is easy to handle and fits nicely in a lady's purse," an official said. The firearm has been named "Nirbheek," which is the hindi word for "fearless."
