Boeing and SpaceX to design Nasa crew ships
September 17 , 2014
Nasa has chosen two firms it believes will develop new crew capsules for its space program.
The American space agency is giving up to $6.2bn to Boeing and SpaceX for the purpose. Boeing will get a contract that could touch $4.2bn; the SpaceX contract would be for $2.6bn, reports said.
For the last few years Nasa was using Russian Soyuz vehicles for the International Space Station. But the crisis in Ukraine has made further cooperation with Russia unlikely.
