Amazon to make five original TV series

  • Amazon.com announced on Wednesday that it is to make five original TV series.

The move comes after the Internet giant used viewer feedback to choose the shows out of 14 pilots it produced earlier this year.

The chosen pilots are: political comedy Alpha House; Betas, a sitcom about a start-up in Silicon Valley; animated series Creative Galaxy and children’s shows Annebots and Tumbleaf.

The shows are the first to ever be made by Amazon and are set to compete with offerings by Netflix and Hulu.

The series will be premiere on Amazon's Prime Instant Video service later this year and in early 2014.

Pilots that were not chosen include Zombieland, Browsers, Dark Minions, Onion News Network, Supanatural, Those Who Can't, Positively Ozitively, Sara Solves It and Teeny Tiny Dogs.
