Amazon says there won't be any phone for free
September 10 , 2013
Although Amazon keeps its prices low, it clearly doesn't keep them that low.
There have been rumors regarding the company coming up with its own smartphone for years and a recent report suggested that it may sell a phone for free, irrespective of whether or not customers sign up for a new wireless plan along with it.
The idea was squashed when Drew Herdener, an Amazon spokesman said "we have no plans to offer a phone this year and if we were to launch a phone in the future, it would not be for free."
According to the report, however, the company is expected to sell the device and make money out of selling the content along with it.
Amazon is also refreshing its line of Kindle Fire tablets right in time for the holiday season, since that is when most of the sales generate.
