2014 was Australia's third-warmest year
January 6 , 2015
Australia’s meteorology department says that 2014 was the third-warmest year in the country’s recorded history.
Mean temperatures were recorded to be 0.91 C more than the long-term average, the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) said. This is ever since national records were started in 1910.
Last year was marked by a notable reduction in cold weather and frequent heatwaves, the bureau said.
Meanwhile, South Australia is currently facing its most serious bushfires in decades.
