2014 is likely to be world's hottest year

  • This year is set to become the hottest ever, the UN weather agency has reportedly said.

The World Meteorological Organization’s preliminary estimates indicate that the land and sea average surface temperatures for the planet in the first ten months of 2014 were higher than ever recorded.

By the end of the year, 2014 would have broken all previous temperature records, the findings indicate.

Michel Jarraud, the secretary-general of the WMO, said the findings of 2014 were “consistent with what we expect from a changing climate.”
