Yankee pitcher ejected due to pine tar
April 25 , 2014
Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda threw with pine tar on his hand earlier this month. Although, it's illegal, players don't make a fuss about it if it's used in a subtle manner.
However, none of it was subtle last night since there was pine tar on Pineda's neck when Red Sox manager John Farrell informed the umpires about it. One of them tossed Pineda from the game after playing a finger on his neck.
Pineda mentioned that he was only trying to maintain a grip instead of hurting someone. He apologized as well. "I'll learn from this mistake. It won't happen again."
