Wimbledon: Stosur out while Federer advances to next round on Day 3

  • Belgian star Kim Clijsters reached the third round of Wimbledon and reigning U.S. Open champion Sam Stosur suffered a second-round defeat.

    Twenty-nine-year-old Clijsters beat fellow non-seed Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic in straight sets.

    Meanwhile, 21-year-old Arantxa Rus from Holland knocked out the fifth-seeded Aussie Stosur in three sets.

    On the men's side, Roger Federer breezed into round three with a dominating win over Italian Fabio Fognini.

    The third-seeded Federer, a six- time Wimbledon champion, gained a 6-1, 6-3, 6-2 victory on Center Court.

    American Andy Roddick defeated Britain’s Jamie Baker in straight sets in a first-round encounter.
