Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer to clinch title

  • World number one Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer, the seven-time champion, in four sets to clinch his third Wimbledon crown.

    The 28-year-old Serb took two hours 56 minutes to prevail 7-6 (7-1) 6-7 (10-12) 6-4 6-3 over Federer, denying the 33-year-old the chance to become the first man to win eight times at Wimbledon.

    Djokovic said that it was a “big challenge playing against” the Swiss. Federer described the Wimbledon champion’s game as “rock solid.”
