Washington Redskins beat Dallas Cowboys to secure play-off place

  • The Washington Redskins secured the NFC (National Football Conference) East title and the final spot in the NFL (National Football League) play-offs after beating Dallas 28-18 on Sunday.

Results from earlier on the final day of the NFL regular season meant that only one team could progress for the divisional title in the American capital, Washington D.C.

The home side now move on to next week's wild card round when they host Seattle.

Rookie running back Alfred Morris recorded a career-best 200 yards and three scores to help the Redskins claim the title.

Sunday’s win marked the Redskins’ 14th division title in team history and first since 1999.
