Vincenzo Nibali, Tour de France winner, joins elite group of cyclists

  • Italy's Vincenzo Nibali, the winner of this year’s Tour de France, is only the sixth man in history to win cycling’s all three major tours.

Before this Eddy Merckx, Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Felipe Gimondi, and Alberto Contador have achieved this feat.

The 29-year-old Italian was 7 minutes 52 seconds ahead of Frenchman Jean Christophe-Peraud, the runner-up. Thibaut Pinot, another Frenchman, stood third.

Contador, among the favorites this year, crashed out.
