US heads to World Cup

  • The US beat Mexico in Columbus, Ohio- the same venue where it has won World Cup qualifiers thrice since 2001. It is now headed to its seventh straight World Cup.

Crowds chanted saying things like "this is my house" and it was all true, especially when the US won the second-half. The night truly belonged to the American team and also to the crowds that stood by for an hour to make sure that the country qualified.

The U.S. team won despite playing without its best players- Jozy Altidore and Michael Bradley. It was also missing two players due to suspension and effects of the absence were apparent in the opening minutes. However, gatekeeper Tim Howard proved to be the stone wall the team needed when it was most vulnerable.
