UNC athletes receive grade A- on essays
March 30 , 2014
Investigations into University of North Carolina athletes revealed that the school allowed athletes to go through college with "a second- or third-grade level."
"For an adult, that is considered illiterate," campus tutor Mary Willingham said. The findings showed that staff members only asked athletes to write an essay, which were graded quite leniently. The essays show noticeable errors but were still awarded with good grades since the school had to "keep these athletes eligible," Willingham said.
"I feel let down and disappointed that something like this could take place. I feel angry at myself for allowing it," UNC responded saying.
