Torch bearer died after carrying Olympic torch
December 17 , 2013
A Russian wrestling coach, who was participating in the Sochi Games, died after carrying the Olympic flame 500 feet.
Vadim Gorbenko, 73, suffered a heart attack after he got his photo taken with the torch. Reports suggest that torchbearers are told that this duty comes with physical exertion and Gorbenko had previously suffered two heart attacks.
This is not the only bad news for the 2014 Games since there has been plenty of bad luck regarding the flame.
Controversy revolving around the anti-gay laws in the nation has made several high-profile individuals to boycott the games.
