Texas Rangers' Matt Harrison to undergo back surgery

  • Texas Rangers starter Matt Harrison is to undergo surgery next week to fix a herniated disc, it was announced on Friday.

He is expected to be out of action until at least the end of the All-Star break.

The 27-year-old left-hander has recently suffered from back soreness and was placed on the disabled list earlier this month.

The left-hander was 0-2 with an 8.44 earned run average in two starts this season after posting 18-11 with a 3.29 ERA last year.
