Tennis: Andy Murray becomes first Briton to win 500 matches

  • Andy Murray has become the first British player to win 500 career matches, after beating Kevin Anderson 6-4 3-6 6-3 to reach the quarter-final of the Miami Open.

    The Scot took three sets to defeat the 15th seed South African.

    Only eight other men currently playing professional tennis have crossed this milestone. Roger Federer leads the pack, having won 1,012 matches.

    Murray, 27, reached the 500 wins landmark in less than 10 years, following his debut in 2005.
