Swimmer Natalie du Toit embarks on bid for 7 golds in final Paralympic Games

  • South African swimmer Natalie Du Toit is attempting to win seven golds at the London Paralympics to add to her 10.

Du Toit is one of the most decorated athletes competing at the London Paralympics.

Since losing her left leg in a motor scooter accident 11 years ago, she has pushed the boundaries of disabled sport.

Du Toit won the S9 100 butterfly on Thursday, the opening day of what will be her final Paralympic Games.

In the 2002 Commonwealth Games, she qualified to race in a final for non-disabled swimmers and went on to become the first amputee to compete in an Olympic Games in 2008.
