Swansea soccer club's Rodgers offered Liverpool coach post

  • Liverpool has offered Swansea City coach Brendan Rodgers a job as Kenny Dalgish’s successor.

Swansea said discussions were still underway with Liverpool's American owners over compensation for Rodgers, who guided the side to an 11th-place finish in the Premier League last season.

Liverpool have been searching for a replacement for Dalglish, whose second spell as coach ended after he was dismissed following the club's eighth place finish in the Premier League.

Once a dominant force in English soccer, Liverpool have not won the championship since 1990.
