Sheffield United withdraw training offer to Ched Evans
November 21 , 2014
Sheffield United has withdrawn its offer that allowed Ched Evans, a convicted rapist, to train with the football club following a negative public reaction to the decision, according to media reports.
The club had earlier agreed to permit Evans to train after a request by the Professional Footballers’ Association. The association’s position was that the player could resume his football career after his release from prison.
Evans was sentenced to a five-year term for rape. He served two-and-a-half years of the sentence.
