Saints Players Suspension in Bounty Case Lifted

  • Former NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue revoked the suspension of four New Orleans Saints players. The suspension was related to the Club's bounty investigation. Despite having revoked the suspensions, the former commissioner said that three of the players had engaged in conduct detrimental to the league. Mr Tagliabue said they participated in a performance pool which could attract fines. He did not spare the team’s coaches and said they were involved as well. Saints linebacker, Jonathan Vilma had previously received a full-season suspension, defensive end Will Smith, along with Cleveland linebacker, Scott Fujita, and defensive lineman, Anthony Hargrove, had been handed suspensions in connection with the Saints’ cash-for-hits program.
