Rooney sent off as Manchester United beat West Ham

  • Wayne Rooney hogged the limelight by first scoring in the fifth minute and then being sent off the field for a tackle as Manchester United held on to their 2-1 lead against West Ham.

Rooney’s clinical finish took his goal tally to 175, the third position among all-time top scorers in the Premier League.

United seemed to be cruising after Robin van Persie made it 2-0 for the home side in the 22nd minute, but a 37th minute goal by Diafra Sakho and Rooney’s red card spoiled the party somewhat for Louis van Gaal’s boys.
