Riley Cooper to receive sensitivity training
August 2 , 2013
After being fined and making his apologies, Philadelphia Eagles receiver Riley Cooper is being sent for sensitivity training and counseling by the team.
The team said Cooper's next step will be to seek assistance, which will help him understand the impact of his words and actions. "As an organization, we will provide the resources he needs to do so."
Cooper had been caught on camera using a racial slur as he confronted an African-American security guard in June. He had used the N-word while talking to the man and later apologized on Twitter, to the media as well as to his teammates.
He said he had handled the confrontation in a poor manner and he doesn't want to be portrayed as "this type of person."
His teammates have accepted his apology. Linebacker Brandon Graham said Cooper will be good to go with them and that the team forgives him. "Riley Cooper made a mistake and life goes on," Graham said.
