Rick Reilly to quit writing for ESPN

  • Legendary sportswriter Rick Reilly recently announced that he'll give up his ESPN column in order to focus his energy exclusively on television.

Reilly is known to have been criticized for several offenses such as misquoting and recycling old ideas but the assumptions drawn from the critiques aren't fair. Writing about the same topics for close to 30 years isn't the easiest thing to do and Reilly himself mentioned something about that in one of his tweets.

The writer's new deal with the network will let him continue with his features on Monday Night Countdown while he does other work for Sunday NFL Countdown and SportsCenter. He's also expected to be inducted into the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Hall of Fame on June 9.
