Player loses game due to a weird puck goal

  • This could be the flukiest goal you'll ever hear about: Phoenix Coyotes goalie Mike Smith had the puck land in the back of his pants without him realizing it and just when he turned to retreat in the net, the puck fell into his lap.

The referees weren't certain about what had happened until the "butt goal" was called on the ice.

Hence Smith scored on himself, the credit of which went to Mark Psyk of the Buffalo Sabres. "It's an honest game and if you don't play how you're supposed to play...you get it jammed right up your butt," Smith said.
