Palermo overwhelm Cagliari 5-0

  • It couldn't have been a worse start to Gianfranco Zola's Serie A coaching stint, with his side Cagliari crashing to a 5-0 defeat against Palermo, according to media reports.

Zola, who replaced Zdenen Zeman in December after the latter’s poor run, said later that he had expected a tough encounter but “not that difficult.”

Michel Morganella put Palermo ahead in the fifth minute, with Ezequiel Munoz making it 2-0 five minutes later.

Two goals by Paulo Dybala, including a 33rd minute penalty, put the match beyond Cagliari’s reach. Edgar Barreto’s 85th minute goal added to the misery.
