Number one Novak Djokovic questions whether women deserve equal pay in the sport

  • Novak Djokovic, the world number one, has said that as more people watch matches of male tennis players, they should earn more money than their female counterparts. Djokovic had described the Indian Wells tournament CEO Raymond Moore’s statement that the women's WTA Tour "ride on the coat-tails of the men" as not politically correct. The Serb went on to say that women had fought for what they deserved and got it. However, he added that the prize money should be fairly distributed on the grounds who sells more tickets and grabs more attention and spectators.
