British Grand Prix: Mo Farah Caims Title in 5000m
February 19 , 2017
Nailing the final indoor race of his career, Mo Farah has claimed yet another title in the 5,000m at the Birmingham Grand Prix.
Farah, who has announced his retirement from the track this year, has set a European record of 13 minutes 9.16 seconds. Four-time Olympic champion Farah has plans to concentrate on road racing after the London World Championships in August.
Farah had to face tough competition from Bahrain's Albert Rop, who held on as Farah kicked away from the majority of the field, but was later defeated in a sprint finish. The 33-year-old had finished seventh last month at the Great Edinburgh Cross Country.
Meanwhile, Laura Muir bagged the 1,000m title in a British record time of 2:31:93. Also Jamican Olympic gold medalist Elaine Thompson in 100m and 200m dashed towards victory in the women's 60m in 6.98 seconds which is the eighth-fastest time ever.
