Matt Reis honored for his heroic deeds

  • New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Reis has been honored after he saved the life of his father-in-law John Odom at the Boston Marathon bombings.

He attended to Odom's wounds by using pieces of clothing at the time of the blast and raised over $125,000 for his recovery fund at his charity golf tournament. Odom underwent 10 surgeries after April 15.

Reis has been named 2013 MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year and Odom mentioned that he doesn't want to be called a hero. "He believes that anyone would have done that," Odom said.

New York England Revolution president Brian Bilello mentioned that Matt continued to advocate bombing victims and being a leader of their team.
