Man with MS skydived over Mount Everest
October 29 , 2013
A 55-year-old Frenchman with multiple sclerosis became the first disabled person to have skydived over the highest mountain.
Marc Kopp completed the long journey to an airstrip on a horse to jump out of a helicopter. He successfully landed at the side of Mount Everest.
The helicopter transported him to a hospital after the jump as a precaution but Kopp wasn't injured during the jump.
The Frenchman referred to himself as being a "little crazy" and said he met champion skydiver Mario Gervasi this summer and was offered this opportunity since soccer star Zinedine Zidane pulled out.
Kopps was diagnosed in 2001 and wants to send "a message of hope to other people with the disease."
