Louis van Gaal, the new boss of Manchester United, said he was a “democratic” manager.
Though appointed in May he had been with the Dutch World Cup squad, helping them reach the semi-finals in Brazil.
“I’m democratic, empathetic to human beings,” the 62-year-old said in his first press conference in this new position. “Of course I have a strong personality, but the other characteristics are more important.”
Describing Manchester United as the “the biggest club in the world,” he said before deciding on signing new players he would see how the current team performs in the next few weeks.
