Li Na retires after battle with 'chronic' injuries

  • Li Na, the winner of two Grand Slams from China, has retired from international tennis, citing “chronic” injuries.

The 32-year-old won the Australian Open this year and the French Open in 2011. But she underwent a knee operation in July after crashing out of the Wimbledon, and has been out of action since then.

She said the decision to retire was the right one for her and her family, one which took her “several agonizing months” to arrive at.
