September 22 , 2014
Lewis Hamilton, driving for Mercedes, won the Singapore Grand Prix, in Singapore on Sunday, 21 September, reports say. Sebastian Vettel came in second for the Red Bull racing team, while Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull was third.
With this win Vettel has taken over as the highest ranked F1 driver in the F1 rankings for 2014. Hamilton’s Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, who was leading the field was forced out of the race early on due to an electrical malfunction in his car. Hamilton, who won the Italian Grand Prix earlier in September, now has a 3-point lead over Rosberg with five more races remaining in this year’s F1 circuit.
This was Hamilton’s 29th F1 title win in his racing career and the 7th this season. Hamilton now heads to Suzuka, Japan, for the next race, leading the F1 rankings for this year.
