Kobe Bryant sidelined for 6-9 months after surgery on torn Achilles

  • Kobe Bryant is expected to be off the court for the next six to nine months in order to recover from a torn Achilles tendon in his left leg, according to Los Angeles Lakers trainer Gary Vitti on Saturday.

Bryant was injured in the fourth quarter of Friday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

After the game, the Lakers announced Bryant had suffered a torn Achilles. Bryant underwent surgery in Los Angeles earlier in the day to repair the tear.

Vitti plans to have Bryant ready for the 2013-14 seasons.

Bryant ends his season with averages of 27.3 points, 6.0 assists and 5.6 rebounds in 78 games.
