Knicks player suspended for drug violation
September 7 , 2013
New York Knicks sixth man J.R. Smith is supposed to be suspended for violating the anti-drug policy of NBA.
He is being suspended without pay for five games and the suspension period will begin only when he is able to physically play.
Smith might be available for the beginning of the season but he probably won't be in time for the training camp.
The Knicks had relied on the player for having outgrown such problems so he had also signed a four-year extension of contract with the team this offseason.
During last season, Smith had admitted that the year had been more serious and that unlike the previous times in his career, he had started to consider their road trips as work trips rather than opportunities to have a good time.
