John Terry 'angry' over Anton Ferdinand racism claims

  • Chelsea captain John Terry has said he was "very angry and upset" at being accused of racism by fellow soccer player Anton Ferdinand.

Terry made the statement at London’s Westminster Magistrates' Court where he is being tried over allegations he racially abused Queens Park Rangers’ Anton Ferdinand.

He added that, as the two traded insults, he thought he heard Ferdinand say he had been sworn at in racial terms.

The former England captain says he was merely repeating this and denies a racially aggravated public order offence.

The allegations revolved around a game at Loftus Road in October.

The trial was adjourned and due to continue today.
