Ivory Coast wins Africa Cup of Nations
February 9 , 2015
Goalkeeper Boubacar Barry held his nerve both by saving and scoring to help Ivory Coast register a 9-8 penalty shootout victory over Ghana and lift the Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.
This was the second time after 1992 that Ivory Coast have won the title, and even then they won on penalties after the two finalists remained goalless.
Sunday’s final was also another feather in the cap for Ivory Coast’s French coach Herve Renard, who had coached Zambia to victory in 2012.
