Homeless dog given a second chance climbs Mt. Everest
November 14 , 2013
It's the first time that Mt. Everest has been climbed by a dog.
A South African golfer Joanne Lefson adopted Rupee and took him for an adventure to Everest's base camp. The 13-day-long journey called "Expedition mutt Everest 2013," began on Oct. 14 and was filmed by a filmmaker in Mumbai.
Lefson didn't need to be worried about Rupee suffering from altitude sickness since he was born in the Himalayas. She said she was proud of her dog for taking the lead and pulling her along. Lefson said Rupee is a "fine example of what can be achieved when a homeless dog is given a second chance."
She had also taken her previous dog named 'Oscar' around the world and there's an upcoming book about the experiences.
