Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare clocked 10.85 seconds to win the gold medal in the women’s 100m in the Glasgow games, setting a new Commonwealth record.
Jamaicans Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart had to settle for silver and bronze respectively. Okagbare said she was happy to pull it off. “After 70m it just felt easy,” she said.
Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Kemar Bailey-Cole won gold in the men’s 100m, racing ahead of England’s Adam Gemili and Jamaica’s Nickel Ashmeade.
