Glasgow games: Amos beats Olympic champion Rudisha in 800m final

  • In one of the much-anticipated races of the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, 20-year-old Nijel Amos from Botswana beat his hero, David Rudisha, the 800m Olympic champion and world record holder.

Amos, who had won silver in the London Olympics in what is considered to be the greatest 800m race in history, ran past the Kenyan Rudisha to win gold in one minute 45.18 seconds.

Rudisha had to contend with silver and South Africa’s Andre Olivier took the bronze.
