June 18 , 2015
Investigators in Switzerland are probing as many as 53 possible money laundering cases and more than 100 incidents of suspicious activity in bank accounts as part of the investigation into the awarding of the next two FIFA World Cups.
A senior FIFA official has indicated that if evidence of bribery surfaced, the awarding of the tournaments to Russia and Qatar could be subject to a re-vote.
Apart from the Swiss inquiry into the FIFA corruption scandal, the American FBI is carrying out its own investigation.
