FIFA corruption scandal: Sepp Blatter to resign as president
June 3 , 2015
Sepp Blatter has announced his resignation as FIFA president, just days after he was re-elected for a fifth term, amid a deepening crisis engulfing world football’s governing body.
His decision to step down came as reports indicated that a money trail of the bribery scandal was getting closer to Blatter.
Eighteen senior football executives have already been charged in the US for tax evasion, money laundering, and racketeering.
Blatter, 79, has been at the helm of FIFA for 17 years.
