Felipe Massa wonders where's the next generation of Brazilian F1 drivers

  • Ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend, Felipe Massa is wondering "where will the next generation of Brazilian Formula 1 drivers come from?" In his eight years as a driver for Ferrari, Massa has won 11 Grand Prix events making him an iconic F1 driver both for his country and Ferrari. Famous Brazilian F1 drivers from the past include Ayrton Senna, Rubens Barrichello, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Nelson Piquet.

Massa expressed concern about where the next crop of Brazilian drivers would emerge from. Speaking to the press he said he believes Brazil needs to invest more on young talent and build on the strengths of its go-kart program. He offered to help in any way possible to facilitate this.

Meanwhile, in practice sessions at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Nico Rosberg set the fastest time, and four-time champion Sebastian Vettel came in second. Massa stayed in the top 10, coming in seventh.
