Federer beats Berdwych to win Madrid Open

  • Roger Federer defeated Tomas Berdwych 3-6 7-5 7-5 in Sunday’s final at the Madrid Open to clinch his fourth title this year.

    The victory over the Czech sixth-seed gave Federer his 74th career title and his third in Madrid.

    The 30-year-old Swiss native is set to overtake Spain’s Rafael Nadal for the number two spot when the rankings are released later in the day.

    Federer has already won titles this year in Dubai, Rotterdam and Indian Wells.
