Ex-NFL player commits suicide

  • Former San Diego Charger Paul Oliver died in Georgia on Tuesday from a gunshot wound, which the police said was self-inflicted.

Police found his body at the foot of a staircase in his Marietta home. The incident seems to have occurred in the presence of his wife and two children.

Oliver joined the Chargers in 2007 and played for his college in Georgia prior to that. He has reportedly played 57 games and became a free agent last year.

The 29-year old's former teammate Quentin Jammer called him a "great guy" and said he wishes he could have reached out to him. "You never know what somebody is going through, what's going on in somebody's life," he said.
