Europa League: Everton defeat Lille 3-0

  • Everton overwhelmed Lille with a 3-0 victory in the Europa League, according to media reports.

    Leon Osman, the 33-year-old whose contract has been extended, scored the first goal in the 27th minute. Phil Jagielka’s header made it 2-0 for Everton in the first half.

    Then Steven Naismith put it beyond Lille, scoring the third goal of the match in the 61st minute.

    Roberto Martinez, Everton’s manager, said his team displayed maturity, and every player “embraced the chance to play in Europe.”
