    June 16, 2016: The recurring clashes between French police and football fans in the Euro 2016 tournaments have resulted in the arrest of 36 people in Lille. French police has mentioned in an interview that they arrested these people throughout Wednesday and also 16 people have been hospitalized. The situation became bad when fans lit bangers and flares. It has also been revealed that tear gas was used, and most of the fans were from England.

    Euro 2016: Six English football fans sentenced to jail for indulging in violence

    June 14, 2016: Six English football fans, who indulged in violence during Saturday’s England-Russia match, have been sentenced to jail terms. They have been given sentences between one and three months. Apart from this, the sentences also carry two-year bans on entry into France. They have been charged with throwing bottles at rival supporters and the police.

    Euro 2016: French government calls for alcohol ban near venues:

    June 13, 2016: Following three days of clashes between police and fans in Marseille, the government of France has called upon the cities that are hosting Euro 2016 to ban alcohol near fan zones and venues. UEFA is carrying out a probe after Russian supporters rushed at British fans in the stadium after the match Between Russia and England ended in a draw. French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve said the ban will include public areas, shops and off-licenses.

    Euro 2016 kicks off amid security:

    June 10, 2016: Euro 2016 is all set to begin on Friday. Host France will face Romania at the Stade de France amidst tight security. According to media reports, France remains under a state of emergency following the deadly November 2015 Paris attacks. 130 people were killed in the attacks. It has been estimated that more than 90,000 police, soldiers and private guards will be deployed at the venues.
