Eagles Player leaves team for now
August 4 , 2013
Eagles wide receiver Riley Cooper has taken a leave of absence from the team after being caught on camera using a racial slur. Cooper said the best thing for him and for the team is for him to take a leave for a certain amount of time. The team is said to have fined him a substantial amount but does not plan on cutting the player.
Cooper has promised the team to go through counseling and to reflect on the situation. He had previously apologized to his teammates but whether or not he'll be welcomed by them is a separate question. Cornerback Cary Williams said the players who have an issue should come out and say something about the situation.
Cooper's slur had taken place at a Kenny Chesney concert.
