Dick Advocaat appointed as new manager of Sunderland

  • Dick Advocaat has been appointed as the new manager of Sunderland and will stay with them till the end of the season. Advocaat, who was earlier the coach of Netherlands, has been appointed just a day after the sacking of Gus Poyet, media reports stated. Sunderland had won just one of the 12 league games under Poyet. This left Sunderland 17th in the Premier League, which was just one point above the relegation zone. Advocaat, who had resigned as the coach of Serbia in November and was out of work, expressed his excitement at being offered the job. "I can't wait to get started," he quipped.
