Derek Jeter returns to New York Yankees' lineup

  • Derek Jeter returned to the New York Yankees after being taken off the 60-day disabled list on Thursday.

The 13-time All-Star shortstop has played four minor league rehab games following his recovery from a broken left ankle.

Batting second as the designated hitter against the Kansas City Royals, Jeter reached on an infield single in his first at-bat before scoring a run.

Jeter suffered the injury during the first game of last year's American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers.

He sustained another fracture during spring training that further delayed his return.
