David Beckham reps dismiss Australia rumors
November 17 , 2012
David Beckham's representatives have dismissed claims made by the Football Federation of Australia (FFA) over negotiations of a move to the A-League for the former England captain.
According to FFA officials, the speculation relates to the 37-year-old LA Galaxy midfielder playing in the A-League during the current 2012-13 season.
"There are absolutely no plans to play in Australia. David is completely focused on the MLS (Major League Soccer)playoffs and winning another Championship with the Galaxy,” Beckham's management team said in a statement on Friday.
Local media reports in Australia suggested that Beckham had shown interest in a 10-game deal following the conclusion of the MLS season.
Beckham's Galaxy, the defending Major League Soccer champions, play the Seattle Sounders next week in the second leg of their Western Conference final after winning the home leg 3-0.
Beckham’s contract with Galaxy comes to an end in December. He has already been linked to the New York Red Bulls by American media, who say the move would enable his former popstar wife Victoria to expand her fashion career.
